What is LFX Mentorship
The LFX (Linux Foundation Mentorship) Program offers a dynamic 12-week internship where participants engage in hands-on projects while receiving a stipend. When I applied for the LFX mentorship program, I was a novice in the field and had no idea how this experience would impact my professional growth. Now, looking back, I can confidently say that my journey within the LFX program has been transformative, teaching me the power of perseverance and learning.

About Jaeger — Distributed Tracing Platform
Jaeger is an open-source distributed tracing tool that was originally built by Uber. It’s used to monitor and troubleshoot applications based on microservices architecture.
About the project
I mainly worked on Jaeger V2. Jaeger V2 is a major update that rebases all backend components (agent, collector, ingester, and query) on top of the OpenTelemetry Collector. In Jaeger V2, we needed to support all the storage backends supported by Jaeger V1, so we integrated all the storage backends supported by the current Jaeger version, such as Cassandra, OpenSearch, Elasticsearch, Badger, and gRPC, and wrote integration tests for these storage systems.
