Five doses of inspiration from the worlds of #Innovation, #Futurism, #Finance and #Utilities — plus one company that is #bringingtheawesome.

#1 Design Thinking has made some bad career choices
First it was ridiculed for it’s fluffy ideals which failed to produce revenue generating products; now Design Thinking is under the cosh for encouraging “design-by-committee”, empowering a fully engaged set of office busybodies to contribute towards reams of bland ideas.
#2 Divergent ideas are your friend
Processes are the invisible glue behind modern production. It’s natural then that as technology and design move closer to one another, that companies will attempt to shroud design in the ornate robes of process.
But processes can be an idea killer if they’re magnetised towards convergent thought. Embrace divergent ideas and keep design thinking as the high-level philosophy which synthesises them.
#3 How to be a true “Innovationist”:
But if we don’t have executable design strategies we risk being stranded in the corporate quagmire, spinning the wheels of creativity with zero end product.
#4 So what’s the answer then!?
We’ve come to accept the value of Constant Iteration (which is great), but we now need to tackle the challenge of Constant Innovation.
Hppn sit at the confluence between divergent ideas and outcomes — hence our name — we make things “Hppn”.
And true to our core beliefs, the synthesis of ideas we developed during our recent design session was truly profound. We’ll share more on this next week, but for a taster, this is how innovation can look ^^^
#5 They’ve come for our cobalt
And finally, a bit of escapism around a serious issue — the scarcity of cobalt — one of the most essential elements in battery technology.
Electric cars and smart energy storage have exasperated the cobalt shortage, an element which is far more abundant in space; a fact which has led to cobalt-rich asteroids being valued at $15quintillion (that’s 200,000 times the GDP of the entire world), and Luxembourg putting the mortgage on its success.
This isn’t business as usual: One 🎉
One is a part of the wefox Group — an organisation with a business model which can define the future of insurance.
One are aware that our lives are increasingly profiled and assessed by our data, and go as far as predicting that the 2nd data revolution will see #GAFAM replaced by a more suitable set of data custodians: Insurers.
The logic is pretty sound, and in our view, regulated industries like Banking and Utilities will also begin to lay claim to a similar business model, that of our trusted data custodian.
