If you read The Overlooked Signs and Symptoms of Menopause, you are familiar with the often overlooked physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual symptoms of menopause.

As we delve deeper into the essence of the word “meta,” we find a concept that extends beyond the physical and tangible.

Meta-pause, then, can be viewed as a profound period of transformation: an opportunity to transcend limitations of our previous years and embark on a new journey of self-discovery. A time of introspection, reflection, self-awareness, where we reflect on our past experiences and gain invaluable wisdom that guides us forward. This process, if we allow, can enables us to forge a stronger bond with ourselves and uncover fresh perspectives in the present day.

So what does it mean to begin building a relationship with the symptoms you are experiencing, receiving all that this big life transition, or “Meta-Pause,” has to offer?

Many of the clients I work with, experience irritability, and fluctuations in body temperature, brain fog, and increased feelings of anxiety due to a change of hormones. By working with their beliefs and ways of relating to this transitional period, however, dramatically changes the way they live move and breathe.

Here are some affirmations we use, to help them build a better mind-body relationship with their Meta Pause:

  1. My body is changing, and so am I: This can lead to new ways of being, opportunities, and new ways of spending time.
  2. I am shifting my energy and focus: As the hormonal fluctuations of menstruation end, and the body is not producing a period every month — the body goes through a pause of making use of energy in a new way.
  3. Paying attention to my needs helps me deepen my understanding of myself and others: The emotional and psychological changes associated with menopause can lead to increased self-awareness and emotional intelligence, allowing women to have a deeper understanding of themselves and their needs.
  4. I allow myself a greater sense of independence and self-empowerment: Menopause can be a time of detaching from old ways of relating, which can be challenging at the beginning. By viewing it as a chance to create in a new way, you become open and available for increased independence and self-empowerment.
  5. I am connected to a larger community: Menopause can bring women together in a shared experience, allowing for the formation of supportive communities and the sharing of knowledge and resources. If you are looking for a support community, reach out! There are many.

Jump into your meta-pause by starting with the affirmation that stands out the most to you. Work on one of these for a week, and revisit the article the next week to add another into your practice.
