Bullying Behaviors You Should Never Tolerate in Your Workplace

Bullying at the workplace is usually perceived as intimidation by a perpetually angry and dominating boss or a colleague. It typically results in constant pin pricking, finding faults in the work, giving higher than achievable targets and then hurling insults for not meeting them. Persistent bullying is discouraging and causes depression and dip in confidence.

Bullying is also about making gestures or remarks that demoralize you. Such acts are extremely unhealthy; discourage employees, and often result in high attrition in an organization. We have compiled here a list of behaviors that amount to bullying, which you should not tolerate.

Harassment

Harassment in any form is detrimental for any organization and if steps to curb it are not taken, then the organization might end-up facing a law-suit. Whether it is sexual harassment or a professional demeaning; you should stop it wherever it is present in an organization. HR personnel in an organization should conduct frequent feedback sessions among employees to spot out in any form of discontent in the employees or harassment in any form. When such activities are found at any level, these should be proactively eradicated.

Discrimination

Reasons behind discrimination against employees can range from gender to provincial prejudices to ethnicities since there are numerous ways on the basis of which an employee can be discriminated against the other. Such discrimination should be discouraged at every level since it results in favoritism and hence discontentment among the employees. Even the derision on these grounds might be distasteful for some employees. By always stepping in to sort out such issues, you can keep your employees motivated.

Demeaning

A demotivated employee can bring down the morale of the entire staff which can result in hampered productivity. The management and employees should both understand that while there are both good and bad days at work, any peer or superior should not lash out at each other. If such a situation arises, the management should step in and make peace with both the parties while ensuring that justice is done. By keeping away these kinds of behaviors, one can keep all the employees motivated and happy which will further result in increased productivity
