Itamar Ben-Gvir, a prominent figure in Israeli politics, has been at the center of various controversies due to his polarizing views and actions. Prior to entering office, Ben-Gvir gained attention for having a portrait of Baruch Goldstein, an Israeli-American mass murderer, in his living room.

Goldstein was responsible for the 1994 Cave of the Patriarchs massacre in Hebron, where 29 Palestinian Muslim worshipers were killed and 125 others were wounded. Ben-Gvir removed the portrait in preparation for the 2020 Israeli legislative election in the hope of being allowed to run on the unified right list headed by Naftali Bennett[1].

Baruch Goldstein, the individual depicted in the portrait, was an American-born Israeli physician who perpetrated the 1994 Cave of the Patriarchs massacre.

This heinous act, in which he opened fire on Palestinian Muslims during their prayers, resulted in the loss of many lives and caused significant injury and trauma to others[1].
