The statistics revealing that 41% of jobs expected by the most disadvantaged students across OECD countries are at risk of automation, compared to 37% for the most advantaged students, highlight a concerning trend of increasing economic inequality and lack of social mobility in the United States and other developed nations.

This disparity underscores how technological advancements like automation disproportionately threaten the job prospects of those from underprivileged backgrounds. Disadvantaged students often have limited access to quality education, career guidance, and opportunities to develop the skills necessary for jobs resilient to automation. Consequently, they gravitate towards occupations more susceptible to being replaced by machines, perpetuating the vicious cycle of poverty and marginalization.
