Ukip’s David Coburn MEP Spent the Scottish Leaders’ Debate Being Trolled on Periscope

Last night, SNP’s Nicola Sturgeon, Labour’s Kezia Dugdale, Conservative Ruth Davidson, Lib Dem Willie Rennie and Green Patrick Harvie took part in a Scottish Leaders’ Debate hosted by STV.

Ukip’s sole representative at the European Parliament — and its de facto Scottish leader — David Coburn claims not to have been invited, so instead planned to offer his commentary via live streaming service Periscope.

Unfortunately, technical difficulties with Coburn’s broadcast meant that viewers were unable to hear any audio for the first part of the debate.

And due to UKIP Scotland disabling users from commenting on the Periscope broadcast, this continued for some time.

Finally, however, UKIP Scotland’s tech team managed to fix the audio problems and Coburn was able to continue giving his unique insight into the televised debates.

But that wasn’t to be the end of Coburn’s technical difficulties.

After the call was put out, users queued up to tell Coburn his audio was still not working.

A particular highlight of the broadcast

UKIP Scotland ended the broadcast and started a new one, this time with comments disabled.

Which was unfortunate as it meant users could not tell him that his audio was genuinely not working again.

Oh, David.
