Contrary to popular belief, the latest-born generation are more than simply misunderstood or precarious. Often judged for being constantly irritated, never satisfied, lazy and insecure, there is another picture that hasn’t been touched upon. If you were a part of this generation you would likely be facing the same difficulties in your life that created the negative connotations surrounding Gen Z.
The Generation Z consists of everyone born since 1995. Kids and teens who have grown up with a mobile phone in their hands, who have learned how to swipe, before they knew how to walk. A generation full of influencers, talented dancers, singers, songwriters, scientists and computer specialists. A generation where a doctor or a lawyer is not the only possible job. Where being a Marketing specialist, Fashion PR advisor, Lifestyle blogger, App developer, producer or graffiti artist is not just a hobby or a passion, but also a job.
GenZers are young and motivated, they have a goal and a vision, a dream that HAS to come true, because it is not just a dream- It’s a plan. They have contacts all over the world, they know who wants what, where and at what time and they know how to provide it. It is no wonder they are the biggest consumers yet also the biggest economy force at the moment. If you are trying to introduce a certain product or service to our generation you have to be extremely careful and precise because they aren’t satisfied with outdated goods or technology. Everything has to be innovative, new and in good working condition- just like they (usually) are! It sounds like they are the most privileged generation that has everything; somany opportunities and possibilities surrounding them but still so lazy and insecure? Well, you may have to reconsider…
In a world full of so much information that is constantly updating, it can be really hard to find what you want and who you actually are. One of the main problems for GenZers is having an identity. They have the freedom to become whoever they want and achieve so many things, yet they don’t know who or what they want to be. Having freedom and access to everything sounds amazing but what do they actually have to do with so much information and opportunities? This is where they struggle, they don’t know where or how to move forward. They feel misunderstood, because other generations call them lazy, but the truth is that they are simply confused! The competition they are facing is also enormous, so good luck trying to invent something new and innovative- someone has most definitely already done it before. Another problem for the digital natives is the feeling that they have to constantly prove themselves and the things they are doing. The constant feeling that they are never enough makes their everyday life increasingly complicated. Older generations are expecting them to be the best, but all this pressure can be really unhealthy for their creativity and often insecure minds.
Like every young adult, the GenZers also want to have a good job that they will do with love and passion, a hobby that brings them money or simply a startup that will lead them to the top of every chart.
