Let me tell you a big secret about it: It’s actually not a planet at all!
zkSync is a moon that orbits the planet Ethereum!
You see, there was big problem on planet Ethereum. It’s such a cool and safe planet that people from all over the multi-chain galaxy started moving there!
Traffic was terrible and the gas fees were insane!
So, a council of math wizards called Matter Labs got together and decided to build a moon using a super cool technology: zk rollups!
With the support of a bunch of the original settlers of Ethereum, they built my home: zkSync! They just launched it into orbit on March 24, 2023!

The “zk” in zkSync stands for “zero knowledge”.
Zero knowledge proofs bundle traffic together so people can move around a lot faster and cheaper on zkSync, while still being part of the Ethereum system!
Settlers here get the safety and security of Ethereum, but they don’t have to pay all those crazy Ethereum gas fees or be stuck in traffic.
Zero knowledge proofs also enhance privacy and security.
Best of all, with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), we speak the same language as the people of Ethereum. We even use the same currency (ETH), so it’s easy to travel there for work, or on vacation!
