5 Quotes To Inspire Your Book List

Wisdom from highly recommended books by Kevin Kelly, Amy Schumer, Maria Konnikova, Clay Shirky and Patti Smith

I’m playing around with some formats based around books. Thought I’d give this a go to see how it goes. It’s nothing more than a handful of quotes from books I’ve read recently. I’ll only ever use quotes from books I highly recommend. You might want to add some of them to your wish list. Or even buy them now.

1. The Inevitable: Understanding the 12 Technological Forces That Will Shape Our Future by Kevin Kelly

“Because of technology everything we make is always in the process of becoming. Every kind of thing is becoming something else, while it churns from “might” to “is.” All is flux. Nothing is finished. Nothing is done. This never-ending change is the pivotal axis of the modern world.” — Kevin Kelly

2. The Girl With The Lower Back Tattoo by Amy Schumer

“Being an introvert doesn’t mean you’re shy. It means you enjoy being alone. Not just enjoy it — you need it. If you’re a true introvert, other people are basically energy vampires. You don’t hate them; you just have to be strategic about when you expose yourself to them — like the sun.” — Amy Schumer

3. Little Rice: Smartphones, Xiaomi and The Chinese Dream by Clay Shirky

“Using the market to gradually fix a totalitarian government is like making a pot of tea by running a volcano through a glacier.” — Clay Shirky

4. Just Kids by Patti Smith

“I learned from him that often contradiction is the clearest way to truth” — Patti Smith

5. The Confidence Game: Why We Fall for It . . . Every Time by Maria Konnikova

“When it comes to you, I see clearly. When it comes to myself, I see what I want.” — Maria Konnikova
