Owen, having met you a number of times and read your books I consider you “one of the good guys” however please don’t get suckered into the wrong side of history just when a voice like yours is needed. Brexit in any form will damage the country and hurt those a the bottom far more than those at the top. Saying that we have to peruse Brexit because of democracy is a very poor argument not least because referendums are a terrible way to answer questions. We have a representative democracy, that is now at risk because of Brexit. What else should we ask the people? Capital Punishment? The level of tax that we should pay? How many days holiday we should get? How many immigrants should be let into the country per year? What the content of the budget should be? What unemployment benefit should be etc? Why just ask them about the EU? If we don’t stop Brexit now we will look back on 2016–2019 as the years we, the people and the two main political parties decided to kill the country. Thanks to social media the views of many will be available for historians to figure out why the Uk decided to be some a 2nd world country. There are so many challenges ahead, not least the rise of AI and Automation, which will be best dealt with at a supranational level not by Silly Billy No Mates Island on its own getting poorer by the day. Owen, be on the right side of history and fight as only you can 100% against Brexit.
