Introduction

Azure Data Factory or “ADF” as it’s affectionately known went into public Preview almost ten years ago, on August 6th 2015.

Since then, it’s become a widely-adopted method for copying data between different locations in the Azure ecosystem. Indeed, for many organisations on Azure who require an easy way to leverage enormous amounts of Microsoft Credits, want their infrasutructure to stay in Azure, and want to minimise complexity — ADF has been the go-to choice for Architects.

This is changing now, for a number of reasons. The two mainly being increasing needs for interoperability with other tools and the inability to deal effectively with scale.

In this article, we’ll discuss how to migrate from ADF to a platform like Orchestra and the different considerations you might have, including price, implementation, and anything else!
