An Ekphrastic poem -Humera Tamboli

Nights & Days

I was Rising up,

like a bunch of starry kites.

I was Shining through,

like a set of smiling whites.

You called for me.

I came running to you.

You lamented over my chastitude!

It hit me down;

it cut me up.

How much could I hold;

in my little tea cup.

My cheeks flushed life; my face bled a page.

In a theatrical sentence that Juliet raged!

I’m standing up my balcony now;

With less to none.

Just eyes that want and a running face.

Through nights of terror,

And days of days.

I wonder truly “who’s life was caged?”

For now;

It is come to this.

It is come to us.

I swear It will forever be, yet never undone.
