Hello there, back again with me. It’s a beautiful day, and this time I want to share my learning results again. The topic of discussion this time is not practical but more on theory and examples in the real world. Immediately, the topic of discussion this time is about the importance of public policy in an area. Before going there, of course, as usual, I will introduce you to what public policy is.

Public policy can be generally defined as a system of laws, regulatory measures, courses of action, and funding priorities concerning a given topic promulgated by a governmental entity or its representatives.

Why is public policy important?

When talking about policy, of course it must be clear because it affects many people, now more specifically, public policy is very important for a region and even a country, because this policy can touch almost all sectors in an area. There are many examples from countries like South Korea with its music industry, Taiwan with its TSMC and many more. Products like Apple were also created and developed because of the public policy of the United States government. This proves that companies are also affected by public policy.

We take one example from South Korea, who doesn’t know KPOP, South Korea has succeeded in making the music industry in this country very famous almost all over the world. This is certainly beneficial for the country from an economic point of view of course.

Not only in the economic sector, education is of course also influenced by public policy. Such as providing free education up to high school, evaluating and improving the quality of teachers in several schools and so on. Examples of these policies have the potential for the progress of a region, with education can also affect the economic sector again.

Constraint of Public Policy

Public policy still has obstacles that can be said to be quite difficult to overcome, namely there are still too many human resources that do not meet industry or government standards, in this case the government, there are still many people involved in making public policy using conventional methods, even though this is very subjective. In today’s era, it is very important to use a Data-Driven solution to make a decision, including public policy. Because the policy will be much clearer and more objective than the conventional way.

Conclusions

Public Policy is very important, this has been proven by countries such as South Korea, Taiwan, the United States and others. Public Policy can touch all sectors in an area. And these sectors can also influence each other. However, public policy still has obstacles that can be said to be quite difficult to overcome, namely the people involved in making these policies still use conventional methods.
