I live in the Bay Area and am visiting Melbourne right now. Grocery costs (along with almost everything else) are definitely higher here, especially because produce in CA is so cheap. Even bottled water is $2.50-$3 for the smallest size. I’ve been telling myself that the exchange rate makes up for it, and the fact that I haven’t been eating out for meals helps a lot.
