As the time is changing, so are the means and ways of doing things. The age of sending job applications by post are over (not talking about government jobs, you know). Now, these things are done at a mere button-press. However useful and efficient this method might be, this ease has taken the passion out of the applicants. But, there are people, still who do the hard work and go the extra mile.

Applying to jobs online or by post is good and most of times, the only mode of applying for the jobs. But, still there is the reward for the people who translate their hunger into extremely surprizing actions.

Dropping your Resume in-person could one such act of passion and hard work. In this digital age, the people who actually go to meet a recruiter or potential employer are certainly by far the most interested and passionate ones. I, too, decided to go in-person drop and chose a local feed mill. I had no idea how would I relate the job to myself, but had to do the thing, so, went ahead anyways.

Starting the journey, I was a bit nervous. Not seriously but just a bit of hesitation. After all, I was not going for a job that would mean a life to me. However, the journey was tough. To start with, I did not even know the address. And then a friend told me a bit about the company and its location.

Finally, there. Checked my dressing, hair, all done; let’s move in. Got into the office of the company, and the news was that all the technical professionals had left. Anyways, I had done what I should have. I handed my resume and cover letter to the receptionist who promised me to forward my resume to the higher management. While I was too nervous even entering the main office building, I left it confident than before, despite not meeting a single technical person there.

As the race for getting (read winning) the jobs gets tougher, the apparent mainstream competition is difficult to compete in and mostly becomes merely a matter of chances and luck. By going extra mile and meeting the recruiters/employers by yourself gives you advantage against your competitors as well as gives you confidence meeting with the personnel that matter in recruitment process, in future.
