Freedom: Philosophy of Joseph Stalin, TP6
Joseph Stalin sacrificed himself for Russia. I see Stalin as a hero more than anything else. People saw him as horrible person but he made the world see Russia completely different. ¨Under Stalin, the Soviet Union was transformed from a peasant society into an industrial and military superpower¨(History). Stalin let the people in Russia practice his form of freedom although he could not. Stalin let everybody else be equal. If everybody else is equal then they all have the same amount of freedom thus not giving anyone more rights than anyone else. Being equal is being free and free is only free if all are equal..
His great talent for the art of manipulation is what put him in the position he was in. As Stalin ¨made shrewd appointments and consolidated his power so that eventually nearly all members of the central command owed their position to him¨(Biography). Stalin had everybody in power at his command and when Lenin died he became the new dictator of the USSR. He had to make sure people owed him and feared him, as fear is the greatest power one can have over another. People now will not cross him and let him go on to rule and his ruling let everyone be free. He did rule with an iron fist, but as Thanos said ¨the hardest choices require the strongest wills.¨ He had to make sure everything was in tack. He could not have people go around and ruin his plan on letting everyone be free. Stalin once stated ¨ideas are more powerful than guns. We do not let our enemies have guns, why should we let them have ideas.¨ He killed people who talked bad about his methods as it will infect others, and people will now start to believe he is a bad person and not want him to be in control.
Stalin had to make people not want to cross him so he can now let others be free.
