The Cave of Munits is one of the more unique caves in the Los Angeles area. It has a cathedral-like ceiling, a natural balcony, and an impressive slit in the rocks that you can peer into. You can even climb inside the cave, which is quite a feat for the able-bodied. But, you have to be careful with your steps and be mindful of broken glass on the floor.

It’s also an excellent place to see birds and other wildlife. To get there, take a ride on the West Hills Trail, which is a great workout for the whole family. Located in the Upper Las Virgenes Canyon Open Space Preserve, this trail takes you through Los Angeles County and Ventura County. While you’re out hiking, be sure to stop by the many waterfalls in the area.

If you’re in the mood for an outdoor adventure, you may want to try out the Cave of Munits, which is part of a longer loop called the El Escorpion trail. This trail is located near West Hills, California. Although you may not be able to walk the entire length of the loop, it is a good choice for a day out.

The cave is also home to several other unique features. For example, the Cave of Munits is one of nine alignment points in the Chumash territory. It is thought to have been used for ceremonies during the solstice. Another is the Hunter Allen Trail, which is a well-established fire road. These are all part of a fun and informative trail that will have you oohing and aahing at some of the area’s more unusual sites.

Getting there is pretty easy. There are plenty of trails to choose from in the area, but if you are interested in visiting the best of the West Hills, you can start by taking the El Escorpion trail to the top of the mountain. From there, you can head south on the Canyon Live Oak Trail to the Hunter Allen Trail. A quarter mile later, you’ll come upon the Cave of Munits.

In fact, the Cave of Munits is actually the most important part of the 2.1-mile loop. Once you’re at the bottom of the ridge, you’ll have a short, rocky ramp to climb. Keep in mind that the rocky ramp is steep. Using trek poles can help you balance. However, it’s not recommended to do this route if you’re not comfortable with heights. Alternatively, you can scramble up the side of the mountain. Fortunately, the route has a well-marked route and is quite easy to follow.

Among the many things to do in the area, the Cave of Munits is a logical and practical destination. Whether you’re a novice or an experienced hiker, it’s a fun little hike that is a worthy reward for your efforts. Depending on your preferences, you could choose to simply admire the cave or try your hand at rock climbing.

The Cave of Munits is not only one of the most interesting caves in the Los Angeles area, it’s also a fun and exciting day hike. Combined with the fun and foxy views of the San Fernando Valley, this 1.9-mile hike is a nice way to spend a day.
