I would suggest to give meditation another try, in particular the self compassion kind and body scan. Not as a solution to the problem, but as a support tool to help you:

  • observe thoughts patterns that keep you locked in this painful loop and practice non-reactivity as you are already doing
  • better distinguish body sensations that are signs of real need for food versus cravings caused by your desire to escape negative feelings
