Sringin was well known to the world because of his powers and the energy he possessed. The Rishi opened his eyes and heard that the Sringin cursed King Parikshit. The Rishi sensitized his son that he had done a wrong thing by giving a curse to a Great King,

‘He said, the good king always protects the Rishis and because of their protection, we can perform the sacrifices without disruptions. Parikshit also protected us as a duty of a great king, He helped us to perform various rituals and sacrifices.’

Rishi Sringin’s Curse

The Rishi sent his disciple, Gurumukha, to the capital of the kingdom to meet the king and inform him about the curse. Parikshit received him in the Capital and served him well. Gurumukha explained the curse to the king and When the Great king heard of it, he isolated himself in a room so no one could see him and he could protect himself from the Snake.

After some days, Takshak met the great Rishi Kashyap on the way to the Hastinapura and curiously asked him the reason for going in a hurry.

Kashyap said, ‘I am going to save the Great King Parikshit, Using the ascetic powers I can save him from the bite of the Takshak’.

Takshak did not agree with the statement that Kashyap could save King Parikshit as Takshak was not aware of the powers of the Mantras of the great Rishi Kashyap.

Takshak said,‘I will burn the tree in front of you, you can prove your powers to me by reviving the tree again. I am the Takshak from whom you are trying to save King Parikshit.’

Kashyap accepted the challenge and revived the tree back to life which was burnt and became ashes in a moment by the use of the poison by Takshak. Takshak was the great one between the snakes as well as very much poisonous.

When Takshak saw that the tree was back to life he believed in Kashyap and said

‘Hey great Rishi, I have seen your powers and now I have believed that you will be able to save the King. But I want to know the reason for which you are trying to save the King from my poisonous bit’.

Kashyap said,‘I am going to meet the King in the desire of the wealth’.

Takshak gave the wealth to Kashyap and the Rishi Kashyap went back without visiting and saving King Parikshit.
