Urbana Resources*

Here’s a list of some of the organizations I visited at the Urbana 15 exhibitions. The descriptions for each organization were gotten from their respective websites.

  1. Wycliffe

For more than 70 years, Wycliffe has helped people around the world translate the Bible into their own languages. We also help with language development, literacy and other spiritual and physical needs.

2. Africa Creative Access

The heart of Creative Access ministry is simple. The gospel is most effectively shared through relationships. And ordinary life presents plenty of opportunities for the kinds of friendships that can safely explore spiritual things. In Islamic cultures, where misinformation and distrust have built strong walls against the Truth, this is often the only way to share Christ.

3. Pioneer

Pioneer Bible Translators bridges the gap between the church and the Bibleless peoples around the world. Our team is composed of Bible translators, literacy evangelists, church planters and a variety of support personnel transforming lives through God’s Word in every language. We are serving 31 million people in 65 language projects in 15 countries. God is calling us to expand. With His help we will strive to start 37 new projects by the end of 2018.

4. Tyndale Theological Seminary

Tyndale Theological Seminary stands as a witness for Christ in multi-cultural Europe, equipping leaders to reach Europe and the world with the gospel.

5. Wheaton College Graduate School (Biblical & Theological Studies)

The Department of Biblical and Theological Studies is Wheaton College’s largest academic department, offering two undergraduate majors, five M.A. degrees and a Ph.D. in Biblical and Theological Studies. In addition, we provide general education courses for all Wheaton undergraduates, as well as a range of theological courses for graduate students that focus on relating biblical faith to their chosen academic fields. In these ways we offer biblical and theological grounding for every student at Wheaton, in keeping with the College’s historic vision of learning “for Christ and His Kingdom.”

6. WEC International

Why does WEC exist? Because 1.7 billion people are unreached, going to hell with no opportunity to learn about Jesus. Someone needs to go to them. WEC is going. We invite you to join us.

7. Perspectives

Perspectives helps believers from all walks of life see how they can get threaded into God’s story of redeeming people from every tribe, tongue, and nation to Himself. From Genesis to the prophets, Jesus Christ to the early church, and Constantine to today, you will see how God has been moving, how the global Church has responded, and what the greatest needs in world evangelization remain today. It isn’t a class about missions, but a course on how every believer can be intimately woven into the story of God using His people to be a blessing to all the peoples of the earth. 8. International Missions Board

IMB partners with churches to empower limitless missionary teams who are making disciples and multiplying churches among unreached peoples and places for the glory of God.

More than 4,800 people groups — close to 1 billion people — still live with little or no access to the gospel. Fast facts contains up-to-date statistics.

IMB is an entity of the Southern Baptist Convention, the nation’s largest evangelical denomination, claiming more than 40,000 churches with nearly 16 million members.

9. World Missionary Press, Inc

World Missionary Press is an interdenominational literature ministry producing topical Scripture booklets in more than 340 languages, plus Bible study booklets, New Testaments, and salvation coloring books in a variety of languages. During our 54 years of ministry, God has enabled us to produce more than 1,900,000,000 Scripture booklets.

11. Asbury Theological Seminary

In 1923, Henry Clay Morrison began Asbury Theological Seminary with a class of three students and fashioned a seal for the Seminary which audaciously reads “The Whole Bible for the Whole World.” Nearly 100 years later, those three students number in the tens of thousands with a second full campus in Orlando, Florida. Asbury Seminary graduates flourish in every state, on every continent, in every time zone, reaching the world through evangelism, missions, church planting, preaching, teaching, and counseling. Today, the sun never sets on Asbury Seminary graduates. Asbury Theological Seminary was founded more than 80 years ago “to prepare and send forth a well-trained, sanctified, Spirit-filled, evangelistic ministry” in order to spread scriptural holiness around the world. Asbury Seminary continues to hold to this mission, providing holistic ministerial preparation as an interdenominational institution.

12. Radius International

Radius International offers comprehensive, pre-field training for those who seek to plant a church among unreached people groups. Our eleven month training program in Tijuana, Mexico gives students daily, real-time experience in learning to integrate culture and language acquisition, spiritual formation, team building, and high-stress living. The Gospel is the core of our personal lives and is the basis for what we teach. As ambassadors of Jesus Christ, we must be serious about clear communication of His message. We have to know what we are saying and how we are being heard. Without a high proficiency in the language and culture of the target people, the Gospel message is rarely taken seriously.

13. Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary

Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary combines a rich tradition with cutting-edge educational innovation. Rooted in the gospel and God’s Word, the seminary seeks to develop Christian leaders who are thoughtful, globally aware, spiritually mature and ready for a broad array of ministries.

14. Business As Missions (BAMEDU)

The purpose of www.bamedu.com is to empower and equip the next generation of Christian entrepreneurs to make a positive spiritual and economic impact in areas lacking a Christian witness. It is our goal to provide relevant, high-quality resources in the areas of Business as Missions, BAM training, BAM internships and more!

15. LightSys

LightSys is a fellowship of believers serving and praying together for spiritual fruitfulness and the fulfillment of Jesus’ Great Commission. We partner in the evangelization of the world by providing IT consulting, training, software development, and missions mobilization, to equip missions and missionaries and provide the knowledge and contacts needed to support their technology. We desire to see missionaries serving with greater effectiveness, keeping their mind on their task, not their computers, thus redeeming technology — for God’s Kingdom.
