Self-Awareness

Most people are delusional.

People dream of what they could be, they fantasize about what they wish to accomplish, to have, and be able to do. However, most people aren’t grounded in reality — they have no sense and no awareness of who they really are.

Let us consider trees for just a moment. They have roots which are firmly planted into the ground. And they also stretch themselves toward the sunlight as if to reach for it. A tree that doesn’t have its roots in soil is not going to survive. It can’t survive on a sunlight-online diet. They have to be both grounded and be continually reaching for what they thrive on.

From this observation, one can interpret that in order for a person to achieve success, he or she must understand who they are and begin at once to work with it, and hone it.

Reaching for the sunlight without being grounded in who you are is like having a floating tree; it’s not taking in everything it need to flourish (succeed), therefore it will soon die (fail).

It‘s all about Self-Awareness!

Gary Vaynerchuk

“Self-awareness is probably one of the most important things. Once you start to understand who you are, then you can start finding places where you will be successful. And you won’t be lying to yourself.” — Mark Cuban on Chase Jarvis’ show Creative Live.

The next time you say that you want to be the next Zuckerberg, think again!

Don’t be the next Zucks, be the first you!

The path that you take to be more like him, or her, is the same path that takes you further away from the only thing you got — yourself. If you lose that, you got nothing.

Start burning the bridge between who you think you want to be, and who you actually are. Gary Vee’s right! Unless you bring your feet on the ground you can’t begin to jump. And with no jump (action) there are no points (results). Get your feet on the ground, then jump, and you’ll see that you can jump higher.

Who you think you want to be is only a deceptive fantasy if it’s not rooted in who you fundamentally are. There’s a time for dreaming, and there’s a time for being realistic and practical. You can do both and be excellent! But first — no, put your selfie stick away, that’s not what I meant — first, be as firmly grounded in who you are as you possibly can. Then, you can begin to continually reach for what it is that you want in life.

In closing, I wish to leave you with one powerful thought:
