Despite not knowing my intentions when commenting from your long diatribe it appears that you were offended or very sensitive to criticism. If you weren’t aware of my intentions for leaving the comment, you could have just asked me. My intention was to inform you that using the word “only” in your context gives the impression that you are comparing the number of deaths or people suffering which is insensitive. For those that have lived or worked with communities that are constantly ravaged by war or conflict, you learn to pay close attention to language. From my experience, you would have offended many of the people that are the many thousands badly injured or effected after war or conflicts. From your post, I know that your intent was not to diminish the loss of life however word choice and overall language is important.
As an FYI, Aboriginal people are increasingly rejecting the term “Aborigine” and considering it offensive. Although the latter is grammatically correct, in future posts I would not recommend using that word.
