2M2M — Day 55: Is there something you could call a “regular day”?

This is a post in a series concerning a challenge called 2 Months 2 Master: learn a difficult skill between 1 March — 30 April 2018, spending a maximum of 15 minutes a day on practice. Report every day on your learning process. We were inspired by Max Deutsch and his M2M. I teach first year students at LUCA School of Arts in Ghent, Belgium. All students have their own challenge. Mine is: do a one arm pull-up.

What I can see a lot in the posts of many students is something like: “Did the same as yesterday. Still little progression. Not going as well as I hoped for. Try again tomorrow.” Sounds like this is going on for ages already, and not really going forward, does it not? Yesterday was a day like that for me also, it seems: “Doing okay, I think” is similar. So hence my question of today: is there something you could call a “regular day”?

Woodworking…

A format like 2M2M gives you the opportunity to look into the details of your day-to-day life, and you can see quite clearly then, that every day is different. You can see it already in the title you choose, the length of the text, the fact that there is a photograph or not. You can see it in the numbers: I am .7 kg heavier again today! All because I was really hungry yesterday evening when I got home from my woodworking class, so I ate much more than usual at a much later time than usual. And then of course the content of the posts, they differ dramatically from day to day, according to my moods, what I encounter, what I read or hear, what I feel like or not.

Today I was going to say: a regular day, did my things, full stop. But it is not like that at all. I was quite tired today, working out was not as easy as usual, it took a big effort to go to work, even if I only needed to be at LUCA for three hours. Otto (my dog) was not having a very constructive day either, and he is a mirror of me more often than I care to admit: he is clingy, all the time looking for food, slow…

So: a regular day? Not by any means. It is day, not my best, not my worst. I’m living it. That’s a start, that’s something I’m sure of. Funny, it is getting better writing about it, I will have to remember that.

Last Sunday Mooji did a satsang again after a long time. (You might not know him, this is a chance to meet him then.) I like to share it here. It is something completely different, but at the same time entirely connected to what I try do here: looking for truthfulness, honesty, connection. I hope you enjoy what he has to say, and if not: skip it. (The introductory bit is long, with lots of music and chanting. I am in it for his words, they start 21 minutes in.)

Just back home from my woodworking class. Feeling balanced and great. Like I said: there is no such thing as a regular day. Now it is time for the first episode of Westworld season 2! Yihaa!!!
