8 Fresh Independent Type Foundries
I am sharing with you a list of 8 independent type foundries with a great collection of typefaces you should definitely try on your next projects!
1.Grilli Type
Grilli Type, founded by Noël Leu and Thierry Blancpain in late 2009, is an independent Swiss type foundry offering original retail and custom typefaces. They are offering seven amazing families which can be seen on their website.
2.Camelot Typefaces
An independent foundry and type collective from Germany, founded by Maurice Göldner, Katharina Köhler and Wolfgang Schwärzler. On their official website you can test all fonts with a bulit-in type tester.

3.Alfa Type Fonts
Established in 2006 by Italian graphic designer & Typographer Joseph Miceli. I like this collection because of wide range of different typefaces including geometric serifs, experimentals, sharp and elegant sans…
All fonts can be viewed, tested and purchased on the AlfaType Foundry site.
4.Fatype
Fatype is an independent type foundry established by Anton Koovit and Yassin Baggar. They were involved in designed a custom typefaces for Balenciaga, Google, Lancel and Condé Nast (GQ France). In their collection you can find ten quality families.
5.Tightype
Another great independent foundry from Germany, founded in 2015 by Fabian Fohrer and Fabian Huber both graphic design students. Tightype guys are providing visually strong typefaces for people who value contemporary type design. For testing you can check trail versions that can be downloaded here.
6.Klim
If you’ve ever heard for Founders Grotesk, Calibre or Tiempos, you should know that these are Klim families. Klim was founded in 2005 by type designer Kris Sowersby. Among a list of 16 beautiful retail type families, Klim is offering a great set of custom typefaces. Personally my favorite type foundry but you decide ;)
7.Milieu Grotesque
Milieu Grotesque is an independent publisher and distributor of typefaces and related products. You’ve probably seen grotesque sans-serif typeface Maison Neue, which is one of my favorites from their exclusive library of typefaces.
8.Omsetype
Young and fresh independent type foundry based in London, offering contemporary typefaces for use in digital and print applications. In addition to their retail offerings they also design custom typefaces.
