How to Fall in Love with Twitter Again
The Power of Tweetdeck

Twitter is a busy place: it is full of dangers, perilous peril and noise. Soooooooooooooooooooo much noise. TweetDeck can help reduce the amount of noise you encounter.
Read on.
Requirements
Prior to starting, you will need the following:
- A Twitter account <- duh.
- This link: https://tweetdeck.twitter.com/
- Topic of interest
- Four to five busy hashtags related to your topic of interest
I: Procedure: Finding Hashtags
- Access regular Twitter via your browser or your phone.
- Click hashtags contained in tweets that you find interesting
- Record/Remember hashtags which return relevant/interesting/nice tweets.
- Head over to https://tweetdeck.twitter.com/
II: Procedure: Setting up TweetDeck
Begin by removing all preset columns: hit the icon in the top right-hand corner of each column and hit Remove pictured in Figure 1

Next, shift your gaze to the far left-hand column; find New Tweet. Below New Tweet, you will find +Add Column (Pictured below). Hit +Add column. Figure 2

You will be presented with the screen below. From that screen, select Search. Figure 3

Again, shift your gaze to the top of leftmost column. You will be presented with two items Figure 4:
- a text input field labeled Search Twitter on the left
- a results window to the right of the input field

Enter one hashtag from your list into the text input field. Your results will appear in the results window. Select the appropriate hashtag/hashtags of your liking. TweetDeck will automatically create a column upon selection. Figures 5 & 6

Wash, rinse and repeat for remaining hashtags.
III: Procedure: Adjusting & Beautifying Your Deck
Direct your gaze to the bottom of the leftmost column. There you will see ⚙️ Settings. Select ⚙️Settings. Figure 7

Select Settings. Figure 8

From the Settings window, you can adjust TweetDeck’s appearance. Per @Grim_Phantasm advice, I set Theme to Dark. Figure 9

That’s it. Adjust all parameters to fit your desires and tastes.
Oh, one last thing! There are two ways to reorder/move columns:
- orient your cursor over the three bars in the top left-hand corner of the column you would like to move, then drag the column to your desired position; or
- hit the < > signs pictured at the bottom of the image below to shift the column left or right.
See Figure 10

Okay, that’s it. I think.
Enjoy!
