On a side note, not sure if you noticed, but I do enjoy using this title naming system. I can thank my dad for the idea. He added that it looked sci-fi. It’s little details like that which make me proud, because it’s different; therefore, my goal is that it will stand out and catch people’s eye. Now, I realize it could be Star Wars-related: BB-8, FN-2187, R2-D2, C-3PO…

Monday

I don’t seem to be jotting down any more notes about the day. Based on my calendar and my poor memory, I recall working in the office on my story idea about social media influencers in Edmonton. Also, my only social media activity seemed to be a retweet.

Whether it be online or I end up out east for a job, I might look into it.

Tuesday

The main shoot of the day was off to Sherwood Park for yoga! No, I didn’t participate in it. I was helping with the setup and tear down of the lights and cameras. While I was sitting during the shoot, I found myself quite relaxed.

Wednesday

Just after 9 and as the department meeting was about to begin, four of us (Paul, Doug, Matt and myself) hit the road and were off to Stony Plain for the first shoot of Where You Live. Luckily there were Coles notes from the meeting, so I’m glad I was able to see that.

For a time lapse of travelling to Stony Plain, Paul setup his GoPro on the dash in front of him. Despite an overcast day, the footage turned out ok.

We arrived in Stony Plain where we were supposed to meet the Mayor for his interview. Ended up shooting it in the Pioneer Museum.

For the first day of shooting #WhereYouLive, I sent out multiple tweets (more so live-tweeting) of the activities throughout the day.

People from the town and the Mayor seemed quite excited about us tweeting and taking photos.

Thursday

Paul and I drove over to the Edmonton Food Bank to go over a script and shot list for a video that they’re working on for Canada 150. The producer/coordinator that’s working on the video at the Food Bank is none other than my father. I must admit, it’s quite odd seeing him talking about scripts and shot lists for a video, but it’s great to see him back doing what he’s meant to do — a storyteller.

Friday

Back on the road, headed to Beaumont for another shoot for Where You Live. Again, the Mayor was ecstatic to have us there.

Weekend

On Saturday, I got picked up by Sheldon around 11 a.m. to go on a shoot for a Taste of Animethon at the Shaw Conference Centre. I had a chance to do some camera work. Overall, a very easy shoot.

After forgetting my Earl’s gift card (thanks to the Northern Alberta Curling Association) on Friday, I grabbed it from my desk to go out Saturday night with Alisha Karim. It was a fantastic dinner! The waitress recommended a great red wine to pair with my steak dinner — Crios de Susana Balbo Malbec from Mendoza, Argentina.

On Sunday, it was a bit more low key. I did have to get Alisha to drive me over to the University of Alberta for my Engagement committee meeting, which is part of the City of Edmonton Youth Council (CEYC). Briefly discussed some updates regarding the YEGbyYouth project.

Immediately afterwards, I ended up chatting with one of the committee members about their video project that they’ve been working on. I offered to help out with the editing, since she seemed to be hitting some roadblocks. Considering that she said there’s no rush on the videos, I figured this would be good practice on my editing skills, plus I could add it to my portfolio. We quickly walked around the SUB building on campus to do a location scout. Found a spot that we both liked to do a future interview.

After coming home from my part-time job Sunday night, I decided to shave, using my new razor. I’ll never go back to using those disposable razors. I’ve officially been bumped up to a new razor bracket. Never thought I’d find myself buying items from a specialty shop — now I do!

ICYMI, here’s the last couple stories of my practicum experience thus far: (Week one and my first day)
