Parse 2.0

Hello Fosco, thanks for the article and the “keep up” ;).
I really hope that Parse will be a great open-source, community driven, successful project, many great things could come out of it and I have to admit I’m excited as well at the idea…however I have to admit that there is only one thing that concerns me quite a lot, about the whole BaaS thing in general.
A BaaS by nature “relieves the developer from the hassle of the maintainence of a backend”, and this will not be true anymore, at least not 100% true as for now.
Also, knowing that a company like Facebook was backing the product, made Parse quite “safe choice” for the developer deciding to outsource a big fat piece of his project (the backend) to somebody else.
After what happened (this is a very humble question and I’d be glad to know your insider opinion) why do you think a company would keep on using Parse, maybe running on his own server, instead of developing his own backend infrastructure “once and for all” ?
