I am a fellow of AMAL Academy which is striving to teach youngsters the soft skills and all the crucial things that they are going to need during their job tenure and help them grow in their field. So, last week we were assigned to do the project in which we have to do the in-person drop of our resume and the cover letters to the companies of our choice. First, we have to find the company that suits us and then do the all required research about their staff and the things that will help us get the interview.

This week I chose two companies as I had too much on my plate these days and I couldn’t spare much time from those hectic things. The first one that I chose was “AMAL Academy” where I applied for the “Program Associate” and the other one is the most renowned and my favorite “CocaCola” where I applied for the “Accounts Officer”. As on Tuesday, I had 1-on-1 session with my program manager Madam Zoobia, I chose to do this in-person drop activity for that day.

So, I took all the required documents with me that day. I had my resumes and cover letter with me. So, after the 1-on-1 counseling session, I visited the HR of Amal Academy and handed her over my resume with my cover letter. She asked me if I had applied through the online portal, I replied in yes. After that, I headed over to the “CocaCola” as that was my second stop for the in-person submission of my documents.

When I reached there, the receptionist who was sitting in the gateway office, stopped me and asked me if I had a contact with HR, as I didn’t have any contact with the HR person, so I told her and she replied that unless you have an appointment or a contact with the person, you cannot go inside.

Although I insisted and told the name of the HR Manager “Mr. Faisal Hashmi”, she totally refused and asked me to hand those(resume, cover letter) over to her which in her words will be delivered to the relevant person. So, I did the same and came back home. Now I am expecting that my efforts will worth enough and get rewarded.
