Self-compassion is really important. It means treating one’s self with understanding and kindness. Self-Compassion is being your own best friend. You are the one constant thing in your life, so learn to love yourself. I believe every experience is a learning process and each step we take is always towards growing and evolving into a more compassionate, loving, caring individual.

This could be interpreted as self-esteem in some ways, but it’s mostly about the way you treat yourself. Whether you are thinking that you are a great individual, or a not-so-great, you can have compassion for yourself. For instance, you might say that it’s fine to make a mistake; you will try harder the next time. It feels like every time one makes a mistake we have to try harder next time. Self acceptance and learning to accept oneself the way they are is an important factor when it comes to self-compassion.

When the world is always trying to change the way you are because you are not conforming to everybody standards. There must be something wrong with you, because you have a different approach towards building self-compassion, and one of which is being able to express oneself no matter what. Indeed, it’s easier for us to give compassion to others than for us to give it to ourselves. In such case, it might be better if we start by putting ourselves first.

Think about the things that you would say to yourself if you were standing right in front of a mirror. You want to start by actually saying something kind and loving to yourself. Believe in yourself and in the decisions that you make. If you can’t stand up for yourself, remember that nobody else will. Self-compassion gives us the emotional courage to take responsibility for our actions because it’s in that state that we have the emotional capacity to fully accept who we are as human beings, with both the joy’s and pain’s of life.
