3D Printed V Tail

Jan 17, 2015 · 2 min read

I have been looking for a while for a small v tail to build to get the benefits of high yaw on a racing style quad.

I came across the plans here on Thingiverse http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:596820

Originally just posted as a work in progress I decided I would break down the stl file and see if I can fly it. It was a lot of work to do that but in the end success.

Running cleanflight on naze in vtail config it was extremely hard to tune. I had to increase roll p to about 7 and add a lot of d to get it to dampen. After quite a few flights it snapped at the tail secttion during flight.

There is a new version release on the Thingiverse page and I will reprint an repost the cleanflight settings once done.

Overall this thing has potential.
