French Toast Hero

This is the first school year the triplets are participating in an after-school program, and it’s hit me harder than I expected. I can’t be there to make sure they eat all their lunch, get a nutritious snack, or even eat at all.

So, I’m doing my best to give them a great breakfast before they start their long days. The truth is, our mornings are pure chaos. It really doesn’t matter how well planned and organized we are the night before. Morning comes around and everything gets crazy. That means, I have to think of breakfasts that can fit into the unexpected time-crunches that are our everyday mornings.

French Toast is BAE!

Kids are like most adults when it comes to food. The prettier it looks, the more likely they are to eat it. That makes sense. Unfortunately, mama doesn’t always have time for pretty. Luckily, french toast is gorgeous every time! I can get away with cutting out some of the extra fat and sugar too, just because it looks delicious! I substitute non-stick spray for the butter and sprinkle a little powdered sugar instead of syrup. (Fine. You caught me. Not always, but I do, and I did today.)

Milk is BAE!

French toast is so easy to make. The kids love it and even think it’s a special breakfast. It’s a win-win. Plus, milk is one of the only drinks that makes sense to accompany french toast. I want them to drink milk! In the summertime, when they were playing soccer, milk was our standard after-practice refreshment. Now that they’re back in school, they’re not drinking as much as they did. So, I have to get more creative.

Milk is wholesome, helps the kiddos get natural protein and balanced nutrition to help them grow up strong. Plus, it’s an excellent source of calcium, and has vitamin A for a healthy immune system, B vitamins for energy, and bone-building nutrients, including vitamin D.

Not all protein sources are created equal.

Milk is a complete protein, providing all the essential acids (or protein building blocks) your body needs. Many plant protein sources are missing some of those essential building blocks, which makes them incomplete proteins. An 8-ounce glass of milk has 8 grams of high-quality, natural
protein, plus other essential nutrients like calcium and vitamin D. Packed with 9 essential nutrients in each 8-ounce glass, milk is a delicious, easy and affordable way to give your kids protein plus other nutrients they need.

Milk is one of the original farm-to-table foods, typically arriving on grocery shelves in just two days (or 48 hours) from family dairy farms about 300 miles away.
