Tejas Express: India’s Finest Semi-high speed Train
Firsthand experience in the first commercial run of the IRCTC Tejas Express
Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), a subsidiary of the Indian Railways on Saturday 19th January, 2020 started the 2nd Tejas Express train between Mumbai and Ahmedabad as a New Year Gift to the people of Western India. It connects Financial Capital of India to one of the Economic/Industrial Hub of India.
Earlier in October 2019, IRCTC became India’s first private operator when they started it’s first journey between Delhi-Lucknow.
The train has 8 AC Chair car coaches and 2 Executive class coaches with a capacity to carry 736 passengers. With all modern facilities like Automatic coach doors, Automatic Window Blinds, On-board infotainment system, Odor control system, On-board catering service it’s definitely delightful train journey experience in India.
Unlike any other Indian Railways, the coaches were much clean; railway staff is very friendly. They are provided with vibrant dress representing culture of Gujarat and Maharashtra.
Ahmedabad to Mumbai Tejas Express(82902) starts from Ahmedabad Junction at 6.40am and reach Mumbai Central at 1.10 pm. Return journey, Mumbai to Ahmedabad(82901) departs from Mumbai Central at 3.40 pm and arrive Ahmedabad at 9.55 pm. The train stops at Nadiad, Vadodara, Bharuch, Surat, Vapi and Borivali stations. It takes approx. 6 hrs 30 mins to complete journey, though our train reached 20 min before the time as it gets the highest priority on the Indian railway network.
