How you know you’ve walked the Camino Adventure…
The Camino Adventure is one of our signature trips and one that we love doing. There’s a reason why our adventure guides ask to join us on this one time and time again.
Here’s your chance to find out what it is that makes it so special.
You know you’ve walked the Camino with iamadventures when…
- You want to go back. 9/10 of people who walk the camino want to do it again. They crave that space, time for reflection and simply the adventure of the journey. Time out to just walk. Luckily for many there is more than one route. You can walk the French Way, the Portuguese Way, The Finisterre Way, there’s even an English Way! So you’ll find that people often end up walking lots of different routes of the Camino each time they go back. Our founder Natalia, has walked the Camino 4 times now and she’s still going strong!
2. When you hear someone say Buen Camino! it takes you back to those special moments. One of the highlights of the Camino is the togetherness, the way it makes you feel part of something bigger. Thousands of people walking the same route, footsteps after footsteps all walking for different reasons, but all united by the journey. When you pass someone on the Camino all you have to do is greet them with Buen Camino and a level of understanding, appreciation and joy flickers through you both. You’ll have found all sorts of ways to greet people with it!
3. You realise what life living out of one bag on your back is like. And that it’s totally possible. Accumulating stuff is just one of those things that happens more and more as you get older. Living out of just the one bag can be so liberating you forget about the drawers full of clothes, or the room full of collected items that just sit getting covered in dust. On returning from the Camino you’ll realise how much unnecessary stuff you have and will likely want to do a big clear out.
4. You’ve got a blister or two. We’re not going to lie, it’s likely that after 4 full days of walking you may have a little blister or two. But don’t worry we know all the tricks to try to avoid these pesky little buggers. The big trick is to wear your trainers or boots in as much as possible before the adventure begins and get some good sock liners!
5. You’ve left feeling creative, feeling alive, having a new thirst for adventure. Our camino adventure is designed to re-ignite your creative genius and to re-connect you to yourself and to nature. It is our mission to make sure you leave with a spring in your step (blisters or not), and a new sense of adventure for what lies ahead.
6. You now completely appreciate the benefits of walking and being out in nature. Everyone that joins us on one of our walks realises how great the benefits of walking are and just how simple it is to do. You will crave those early morning rituals and starting your day walking out at sunrise. We all hear that going for a walk in nature is good for you and that we should do it more often. But there’s nothing more encouraging than actually experiencing it first hand.
7. You’ve made lots of new friends along the way. You will be walking with like minded women all looking for an adventure. We’ll be walking and staying together for a whole week of fun and creativity! Of course you’re going to make friends and want to stay a member of our adventure maidens community.
8. You realise that the Camino does provide and that strangers can be kind. There’s a lovely saying in Spain — ‘The Camino Will Provide’ — on completing your adventure you’ll know this to be true. People can be kind and you’ll always remember that old man that handed you some well needed juicy grapes, or the lady who made you a cafe con leche on arrival, or the gentleman in the car that pointed out the next arrow for you. People are good and the camino will remind you of this.
9. You have a clear vision of what you want to achieve. Clarity is a gift. A gift that gives back. The Camino will help you take a step back, reassess where you are and what you are doing and give you that new perspective you’ve been searching for.
10. You are more curious, about everything. You take time to stop and smell the flowers, to listen to the birds, to sit and watch the sunset. You find inspiration from all sorts of sources you’d never really given time to before.
