Using Sketch App — First Impressions

First time using sketch?

I’ve never used Sketch app before. As a self-taught graphic designer, I learnt graphic designing with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator via YouTube. Sketch, to my surprise has a similar learning curve. It focuses more on vector graphic, shape manipulation and complex designs (depending on your level of expertise).

With it’s clear interface, Sketch is a pretty straight forward app (for Mac only) where you have to adapt to understand all the tools.

This is an Ironhack Pre-work exercise introducing us to the basic principles of the sketch app.

Combining a shape and an object to create a mask, then after coloring the border.

Surprisingly, it is possible to perform math operations in the numeric input sections.

Creating a moon when you combine two circles with the Boolean operation in the Sketch app.
Building a Rocket was fun- using boolean tools and curve editing.

After watching other tutorials on the use of sketch app, I am excited to use this tool in my UI career. The software is Intuitive and clever, and has some cool tricks.

What do you think about Sketch?

Do you work with Sketch on a everyday basis? Do you think Sketch will be there in the long run to design or do you recommend other softwares to do the same things?

Thanks for reading❤️.
