I don’t know the right answer but as a freelancer I have experienced with a few freelance sites. One of the biggest problems I face is competing globally. It is near impossible for me to get a job on sites who offer multiple quotes over a long period of time on a global scale. There is another site that only allows freelancers in our country and only a few quotes per project that has been very rewarding. If the client has a solid project with enough details for the freelancer to know what he is getting into and provide an accurate quote, or the freelancer has a solid business with a great portfolio and good reviews, I think you will find that the word will spread and things will grow. I have referred one site to over 4 freelancers/small businesses because of how well it works. As far a percentage for payment vs credits, I think the credits are more valuable. But if the credits cost to much it may backfire. You just need to find a good balance. I personally haven’t used LocolSolo only because nothing has come up that I specialize in. It seems to me, I could be wrong, that businesses don’t want to spend the time researching potential clients. I didn’t really get any freelance jobs until I started posting portfolio images with my quote even though they had access to my profile. these are just some thoughts I hope can help.
