Hey there! How have you been? Today I will be giving you tips on how to elevate your value to new clients. Enjoy.

It is a no-brainer that for you to become an excellent designer, you must know how to not only offer value to your existing clients but also to new ones. Providing valuable services can increase clients’ confidence and trust in your skills or brands’ offerings. Clients who feel they’ve made a good purchase are more likely to buy from you again and share their positive experience with others. One may ask, how can value be measured? The one thing you should know is that your clients determine if you are valuable to them or not. That is to say, value for any service rendered has to be seen from the clients perspective, this is because what matters most to our clients are services that precisely match their most critical requirements while remaining within their budgetary constraints.

Contribution and cost are the two components of value. The following is a description of their relationship:

Value=Contribution/Cost

Below are 5 ways to elevate your value to new clients

  1. Ask Questions Often — To ensure that design aligns with strategic vision, center conversations with clients, stakeholders around company wide goals or product roadmaps. You have to be willing to ask questions regularly. Ask as many questions as possible. This will help you avoid making mistakes or regret embarking on a project halfway through it. There is an igbo adage that says “Onye ajuju anaghi efu uzo”. This simply means “a person who is not afraid to ask questions never gets lost” So ask that question, no matter how foolish you think it might sound.
  2. Don’t make any promise you cannot fulfill- This rule is quite basic when it comes to giving excellent customer service. To provide value, you need to meet your clients’ expectations, and then some. Don’t go around promising clients heaven on earth. Lol. “No go do pass yourself, else you’ll have a case of trouble dey sleep yanga go wake am” ( This means you should slow down on how you make promises else you might run into trouble). It’s critical to constantly follow through on what you say you’ll do, as this strengthens client-business connections and shows your clients that they’re valued. It also demonstrates that you are not a liar, which is always a plus. For example, don’t tell a client the exact month you will deliver a project, instead give them a time frame and then strive to complete the project before that time. Sho get ba? (Do you understand?)
  3. Be smart — you should be proactive, don’t wait for the client to call you regularly for updates, set up a system that lets the client see work progress, Clients want more transparency, efficiency, and easier collaboration. Increase your agility by continually and swiftly responding. Make it a habit to learn new things on a regular basis. Create an inquisitive culture that is always looking for ways to add value to your customers.
  4. Offer more — Think about the different services that you could offer, and also think about the different services that your clients might need. If there is some overlap, consider offering these services as a way to meet your clients’ needs and to increase your income. Provide solutions to customer demands that are similar to the ones you’re presently addressing and offer value. Rather than persuading clients to buy or pay for something they don’t need, show them that you care about their success (not just your own) by providing value-added, innovative solutions that meet even more of their demands.
  5. Check-In With Past Clients — Take some time to go back through your records from past clients and reach out to anyone who you haven’t been in contact with recently. Ask them how their business is doing and see if there is anything that you can help them with. Set up a process to reach out to past clients periodically, such as every six months.

By offering your client with as much value as possible, you can create happier, more stable client relationships. Kindly reach out to me on social media, my handle is iamcollins_donye on Instagram and @collinsDonye on twitter. Do have a productive week.
