I’m Hal, and This is Who I am.

Dealing with Type 1 diabetes today still requires a ton of math, planning and overall management that can be mentally exhausting. Dexcom has changed the lives of many diabetics around the world with CGMs (continuous glucose monitoring) and we want to thank Dexcom for making it so much easier to deal with Type 1 diabetes. Now, with the introduction of devices like the Apple Watch, keeping an eye on your sugar levels has never been easier and we know this is just the beginning.

Hal — Your diabetic coach

Today, we are announcing Hal, a Dexcom companion iOS app, your diabetic coach built and ran by Type 1 diabetics. We decided to build it, because so much more can be done. You can expect more data, and a clean, friendly user experience to navigate and understand your data better. Daily recommendations on your diet or exercises and insights based on your trends, but also encouragements when reaching key milestones because morale is so crucial in the management of any condition. We know first hand what it’s like to live with the disease so we are gonna do everything we can to create a companion that makes our daily lives much easier to manage.

Later, we believe we can leverage Machine Learning to draw insights from your data and put things in the spotlight that you might have never guessed.

Building Hal For You

We aren’t building this app strictly for us, but for you and what better way to show that by giving you the opportunity to voice your opinion. We want to build something personal, more than just an app, something that will connect with us at a personal level. We are currently building Hal and will launch a beta soon. If you want to be one of the first to try Hal, feel free to sign up for our Beta at http://iamhal.io.

We want to hear from you, if you have ideas on what his needed for Hal, reach out! Follow us on Twitter and let’s have a conversation.
