Hunting: Prep Day 2
Arrows cut and trail cams purchased…
Time crunch already, and I needed to pick my arrows. I previously shot the Carbon Express — Maxima Blue Streaks for 2 years now. They definitely get the job done, but I decided I should try something (a tad bit) newer. I decided to go with Maxima RZ Blu’s this season.

I have a 26 (really 25) inch draw length, so there isn’t much change between the two arrow types for me in the 250 zone; it is just that the Blu’s are designed with stiffer ends which help isolate the the flex in the middle of the shaft. I honestly haven’t shot them yet, I just can’t seem to find the time. I will definitely get around to it before or during this upcoming weekend. Once I get my bow sighted in with them, maybe I’ll hit the 3D range or get some video time in; it’s been awhile since I’ve done either.
As for the trail cameras, my cousin shot me a text saying that Dick’s Sporting Goods was having a flash sale on their Primos Easy Cam for 30 bucks each.

The reviews weren’t that amazing, but for $30, meh I’d give it a try. He purchased 3 of them and I got 2. I just got mine in the mail two days ago, so I was eager to set them up in my backyard. I thought the instruction manual was more complicated than it should have been, so I spent longer trying to follow the manual than figuring it out for myself. Regardless, I got one working, and set it up in my backyard. I didn’t catch any cruising bucks, though.
Here are a couple of the pictures:

As you can see, it’s no DSLR, but like I said, for $30? Not bad, but I definitely wouldn’t pay full price for these. Upside is that they are small and can give me some idea as to what is walking around. Now I have to find the time to get out into the real woods, or actually, find areas where I do want to put them out. I have a couple of spots I want to just try to see what’s there, but I really want to push my hunting experience to the next level this year; so nasty swamps and “middle-of-nowhere”’s, I’m coming for you.
In the mean time, it’ll be scouting areas using Google and topo maps at my work desk, and prepping on other areas. I’m in dire need of a new stabilizer, clothing, binoculors, and I am still debating if I want to change my bow string. I’m constantly on a time crunch with life and the season is coming up pretty quick, so I really need to get things going.
