The Art of being Honest to yourself

“Not telling the truth is the quickest way to make yourself a stranger”

Most of us are living in this fantasy world where we are some sort of a super human destined to be successful. All too often we overestimate our abilities to perform and slack off on practise. Why practise when you get the job done anyway? This attitude is the sign of an ignorant human being. He or she might claim to know themselves all too well, but in reality, they have no idea what the hell is going on.

How many times did we tell ourselves that it was going to be okay? But deep within ourselves, we knew that was not the case. We knew that we were going to be screwed if we didn’t put in the effort. Instead of accepting that fact, we lied to ourselves. We told ourselves that we had the power to do a great job. Even if that meant slacking off and wasting all our time on mindless BS. And when the actual event arrived, we were blown away like a plastic bag on a windy day. We didn’t know what hit us.

Lying to yourself might give you instant relief and pleasure. But on the long run, it is going to mess up your life. If you think you can get away with planning and preparing, then you are dead wrong. Even if you are the best in your field, without practise, you will fall flat on your face.

Every moment you slack off, someone else is training. When you meet that person, you will lose. This is not rocket science. It is plain common sense back by the laws of life.

So please, be completely honest with yourself. Know where you stand even if it means looking in the mirror and telling yourself that you suck. Accept that fact. That is what courage is all about. That is what success is all about. Accept your flaws and work towards amending that.

All the very best to you in life.

Please share your thoughts on the above subject. I would love to hear what you think.
