Las Vegas, Nevada; The S.T.A.R.S. Youth Empowerment Summer Camp

Offers unique programs and is a Las Vegas based program that services Parents with their children and that are in need of agfordable childcare. Many of whom work long hours to provide for their children and families. Then there are those who just need a break from their kids. The program opened about one month ago and is off to an awesome start. They provide healthy meals twice a day and there’s a general education program focusing on k thru 12 educational curriculums. The children and students range between the ages of one and up to 19yrs. Encouraging student’s behaviours to being continueously positive and constructive. The children are directed towards structural Behavior.

They have already receieved funding from The Las Vegas Metro Police Department, PBS Las Vegas Public BroadCasting Network and from other small business organizations that have contributed a certain amount of money to the community and towards the set up, function and development of The S.T.A.R.S. Program.

What I like most about The S.T.A.R.S. program is that they provide a decent structure of discipline, spiritual Encouragement and uplifting guidance to students that are troubled and in need of some motivation. They also provide a pretty decent amount of physical activities Like their physical education class in school. They take the students of field trips to Community colleges, universities and museums, parks and gardens. They even have a daycare center for the little ones that they call The Tiny Tots program.

The S.T.A.R.S. program is run by the local community members and every adult is a Volunteer. Which shows their dedication to making their community a decent place to live.

The Micasita Apartments is located on Swenson and Twain in the heart of Las Vegas. There are so many plans for the programs and its functioning. Moreover, since the Metro Police Department has an interest in the successful implementation and development of structure of this program, They fully intend on seeing this program up the success ladder. So impressed that they regularly come visit the children to ensure that they are safe and answer questions about their job activities. Even showing examples of basic training maneuvers. They get along well and the children love it when they come. May I add, by the way, are very inquisitive and want to know more about the job of police officer.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays the students and children are doing physical activities, that are conduct by two Modern and Jazz dance instructors and one Step dance instructor. They are taught basics for now because many are unfamiliar with the algorithms of a dance class. Some choose to do the step dancing because its easier.

The S.T.A.R.S. program is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. during the summer and they are making arrangements to remain open during the school year for tutoring and other after school activities. A place where the children can be kept safe and off of the streets. With the help of Metro Division and charitable donations from other organisations, the children of The S.T.A.R.S. Program will be safe and will be doing many more constructive things for the remainder of the year and from now on.

Some of the equipment was donated too. They may need funds to replace them as needed to keep going. there’s a computer room and the maun auditorium is used for lots if fun indoor activities. They also take them swimming. Even quiet moments when they get to watch educational documentaries on history which the instructors encourage feedback from everyone. They receive motivational speeches and lectures from staff who treat them like family... They are a family... They are The Children of The S.T.A.R.S.
