Power Of Prospecting on Facebook: 3 ways to better use the social media channel.

Facebook is the largest social media platform with an average of 1.3 billion monthly users. The numbers alone yield an immediate response of those on social media to make sure they are utilizing the Facebook platform to it’s full potential. Out of the 1.3 billion users, 1 billion of those are mobile users and on average over 18 minutes per day per user is attributed to Facebook which is more than any other social media platform.

Now that social selling, business building, and brand expansion is being done online and Facebook leading the charge, the need to become a more efficient prospector on this social media channel is important. While there are a multitude of ways you will be told to use the platform I believe these three ways are important to building more efficient prospecting opportunities.

Three Ways to more effectively prospect on Facebook

1. Respond To The Likes

- The “thumbs up” was the first interactive button that Facebook added to gauge the engagement of users with content on the platform. I find it a valuable tool to use in building relationships with users and learn more about the users themselves. When you create a post, video, or message and you see the likes find out what your current online relationship with each particular user and respond to them accordingly. Examples of proper responses would be to (1) Directly post to their timeline thanking them for their like or send them a direct message doing the same. This will create engagement and offer you a chance to begin creating a more structured and deeper relationship with the users who like your content.

2. Respond to the Comments

- When someone comments on your post, video, or Facebook Page they are now trying to get your attention. Your posts gave them a reason to engage and their comment is them looking for engagement back in return from you or the content creator. By replying to the comment in matter of fact manner will strengthen you chances at driving them to future content you post. I would also suggest that in your comment back you ask them how you can better service them online and what they liked most about the specific content they commented on. This provides an open for deeper engagement and gauge their interests in you much more effectively.

3. Create multiple distribution points of your content

- Facebook is constantly adjusting their algorithms and how content is distributed across its platform. To combat these changes it’s important you have multiple points of distribution for you content on the channel. Personal Facebook page, Business, Fan, or Public Figure Page, and Groups are great ways to create multiple points of distribution. What makes it strong from a prospecting point of view is that as individuals interact with all of your pages or have similar groups, they see a consistent delivery of your content and this creates an easier way for them to engage with and become more comfortable with your message as a whole.

What it will also do is provide you with more avenues to push content to different audiences and give a greater chance of having that content shared to a larger audience pool. For example I have 7 channels of distribution on Facebook. Personal Page, Fan Page, Inner Circle Private Group, Business Page, and three groups that I contribute content to. This not only enhances the chances of my content to be seen but it also allows me a more efficient way to prospect throughout these channels of distribution.

Facebook is a strong social media platform to use for business, networking, and selling but in my opinion it is also a powerful tool to use for prospecting potential business, contacts, and ways to build up or enhance your credibility in your niche market and online presence as well. Don’t neglect these; however, you should look to enhance your usage of them and begin winning on Facebook.
