Training for UI UX today.
There is a lot, I mean a lot of content online today that can teach and train you to do so many things. The excuse of not being able to have the resources to help you pull through and persevere is not valid as it once was.
Fundamentally the reason why we lack motivation when we are using YouTube, Udemy, SkillShare etc. Is because that it will always be there, we just say that “Oh I’ll make time for it later” or that there are more important thing’s to do. The truth is, it’s quite simply just about priority, If we were at school, college, university or working, we would most certainly take the time to learn, to study, to understand. So why can we not do that now?
It’s really just about personal growth and how willing you are to want to achieve something within a specific field. Just note that you do not become the best overnight, you can’t make one design and upload it on Instagram and expect to have a massive following and tonnes of job offerings at your feet. It just does not work that way. Take time for yourself, be patient with yourself whilst learning, setting the correct flow and mindset makes it easier and more exciting to learn things, have a curious mind. Play and experiment on your own. Recreate a design to learn but don’t steal!

The Tools. THAT I RECOMMEND (PERSONAL PREFERENCE)

The tools that I would personally recommend are Sketch App and Principle for Mac.
So why Sketch App?
Sketch App for me personally was not discovered till my final year of university when I was working on my final year project. It’s probably one of the best tools i’ve used for designing interfaces and even for wireframing.
The interface is really smooth, I’ve never experienced the type of lag on it like I have with Adobe Illustrator for example. Just to answer the question that are on your mind right now, no my machine was not rubbish, the specs are quite powerful. But back to the original point. It’s smooth, it’s fast, easier to organise between artboards and layers and it also has a the ability to be exported straight into my personal favourite UX tool. Principle. I LITERALLY JUST LOVE THIS ONE.
So why Principle For Mac?
Well I like principle because of the way it can animate my design, personally for me the flexibility is perfect, the effects are great, I’m able to export gifs, set resolutions for Dribbble, record my UI’s as movies. It’s just fantastic.
I did do a bit of research before I felt I should go for it, the truth is, I didn’t even trial it, I just went for it and played around with it and you just learn, the resources are there, don’t be afraid to be wrong, being wrong is how you grow and at the time it’s going to feel like shit but overtime it get’s better and you’ll understand that you had to fall in order to rise higher!
The Cost Factor
As we know, there are so many tools out there already, so what do I go for? Well given other softwares and online tools (InVision, Balsamiq, Proto) using Sketch and Principle doesn’t bound you to any monthly overheads, or anything you’re paying so much for. Those tools listed above makes sense for corporate people, agencies etc. As a freelancer and someone who is learning these tools (Sketch and Principle) are great because they’re cheap and it’s a one off payment.
A SIDE NOTE — CRAFT

Craft is a prototyping tool that was created by InVision. It’s a plugin that was designed for Photoshop and Sketch, It’s totally free and what it allows you to do is prototype your User Interface designs. This could be a better way for some of your beginners in the game if you do not wish to put down too much money initially on your tools. I use personally use this time to time and think its a great tool to work quickly and effectively.
