8 min readFeb 20, 2024

How To Make Money With AI Art on Etsy

I’ve never seen a marketplace as versatile and profitable for beginners as Etsy.

It’s really crazy how all a beginner needs to do is

  • pick the right product idea,
  • bring it to life,
  • and make money.

So, if you’ve always wanted to build a passive income stream that will make you money without prior skills or experience, today’s challenge is for you.

We’re about to combine the power of AI with Etsy’s huge customer base to generate passive income, even as complete beginners.

Because using a free AI art generator like Leonardo.Ai, creating high-quality products to sell on Etsy is basically a walk in the park.

So What Exactly Is This Challenge All About?

Now, before AI art became a thing, selling on Etsy was a side hustle reserved for professionals who were crafty and creative enough to cook up something of high quality for buyers to download.

But that era is long gone.

With an AI art generator like Leonardo.AI, complete beginners can now go from simple prompts to high-quality sellable images.

And in today’s side hustle challenge,

I’ll be showing you how to go from zero to launching a library of profitable AI-generated images to sell on Etsy in just 3 steps.

Step 1: Pick a Product Type for your Etsy Shop

There are hundreds of product types you could sell on an AI-assisted shop on Etsy, but for the sake of staying on brand, you’re going to need to pick just one of them.

Now, this rule only applies to each individual shop you own.

So it’s 100% okay to run multiple shops on Etsy selling different types of AI generated digital products.

That said, some of the best ideas I have for you include:

  • Clipart
  • Stickers
  • Wall art
  • Patterns
  • Story books
  • Coloring pages
  • Tshirt
  • Recipe books
  • Mockup images
  • Stock Photos e.t.c

Step 2: Generate and Analyze a list of Product Ideas with ChatGPT

Once you’ve decided on what your shop is going to be about, the next step is to

  • generate,
  • analyze,
  • and create a list of product ideas for your Etsy shop.

This step becomes super easy with the help of ChatGPT because depending on the product you decide to sell, you can simply ask ChatGPT to

  • Provide 10–20 niches for the particular digital product you’ve chosen to create
ChatGPT Dashboard
  • Then, niche down even further to reduce your potential competition on Etsy by asking ChatGPT for even more sub-niches.

ChatGPT Dashboard

The key is to ask for more and more sub-niches until you find a keyword that fits our analysis criteria with

  • High demand
  • And low competition

But why do we even bother with keyword analysis?

Well, it might sound like a time-saving hack to try skipping the keyword analysis step,

But doing this will only leave you with a bunch of high-quality images, with no sales to show for it.

So, stay focused and go through the due processes.

Plus, the way to analyze for these criteria is easy.

Simply type ChatGPT’s product idea into Etsy’s search bar,

  • To check for demand, ensure that Etsy suggests your exact keyword in their dropdown.
  • And for the competition, only stick with keywords with less than a thousand search results

While I was writing this story, I ran a quick research on Etsy and found a highly profitable sub-niche for T-shirts.

It was in the yoga niche that ChatGPT recommended to me.

I dug deep & found this keyword.

Downward human. (It was funny to me because it’s usually supposed to be 'downward dog,' a pose in yoga.")

This Keyword was perfect because it had a

  • Decent demand on Etsy (Since it shows up in Etsy’s Dropdown suggestions)

  • Very low competition with just 533 search results

This random keyword I found has several products with thousands of reviews,

And one of the best sellers, with over 27.9k reviews and priced at $12.90, has most likely generated revenue of $359,910 for its owner.

Step 3: Generating High quality images and Packaging them to sell

Once you have an idea of what you want to create on Etsy, the next step is to generate AI images for it.

Now, Here’s what I’m going to do.

For each of the product types, I’ll be showing you image prototypes that I created in Leonardo Ai using my high-quality prompts.

Let’s go.

Now, I’d be lying if I told you that generating high-quality AI images was as easy as typing in any prompt that comes to your mind."

But No!

The thing about AI Art is that it works purely on the principle of garbage in, garbage out.

So when you input a low quality prompt into Leonardo AI, you’ll most likely get a subpar output.

Here’s an example of how the right prompt makes all the difference.

This first image was my first attempt at creating Clipart on Leonardo AI.

But then I tweaked my prompt and was able to generate a more high quality image of a bagel.

So before you go on to generate a bunch of AI art on Leonardo.ai, you need to understand that it takes a level of expertise.

And you need to be ready to learn

how to create the perfect prompt for your images
and which of Leonardo’s Art models would suit the art style you’re looking for.
For this, you need to practice on Leonardo.Ai and play around with its tools.

That was exactly what I did, and in less than three months or so, I became quite proficient at generating images that were highly sellable.

You can also

  • skip the entire learning process
  • copy my exact AI art prompts (word for word)
  • and the AI model I used for each of them.

Just by downloading my Leonardo Prompt Bundle.

With this bundle, you’ll get all of my best-performing prompts for generating images across all genres, including cliparts.

And, for an affordable fee, you’ll be able to download the exact prompt I use to generate my Clipart, as well as other sellable AI images.

You can click here to download the Leonardo Prompt Bundle.

Now that we know what goes into making your AI-generated art high quality, the next step is to package the images.

The first step is to remove your image’s background using Adobe’s Free background remover.

Then either package it into a zip file or further edit it in Canva by adding text and elements.

How To Make More Money with Your AI Generated Art

What if you could make more money with the same digital products you sell on Etsy by uploading them to other marketplaces?

Sounds smart, right?

Well, it is.

Most of these marketplaces don’t have exclusivity over your products, so they can be sold in all the shops you decide to create outside of their platform.

You could sell on a marketplace like

  • Creative Fabrica with over 10.7 million monthly visitors

I love this marketplace, and over the last year, I have built an audience on Creative Fabrica that now makes me thousands of dollars per month.

  • Teachers Pay Teachers

This is another marketplace I’d really love to get serious with, but I just can’t because of time constraints.

But while my shop was live, I made a reasonable amount of money, proving that the concept actually worked.

Conclusion

Using the Leonardo Prompt Bundle, you basically skip the hard part I had to go through in making high-quality prompts that generate images that feel good enough to be paid for.

Yes, like I said, once you download a copy of the prompt bundle, you simply need to

  • copy-paste those prompts into Leonardo Ai

  • The click generate

And within minutes, you would have created an image that could potentially make you hundreds of dollars.

But here’s the catch:

By downloading the Leonardo Prompt Bundle,

  • you not only unlock access to my high-quality reusable AI art prompts,
  • but you’ll also receive free email follow-up from me throughout the course of this challenge.

Yes, free 30-day email followup from me.

I really want as many of my readers to come back with success stories from trying out this challenge, so I’ll be offering extra assistance.
