How To Create Canva Templates to Sell
Now, let's talk about the exciting part – creating Canva templates that will not only stand out but also sell like hotcakes.
Here's a simple step-by-step guide to get you started:
Step 1. Identify Your Niche:
Start by identifying a specific niche or target audience for your Canva templates.
- Think about what kinds of templates would be valuable to them.
- What problems can your templates solve for them?
- What style or design elements resonate with them?
This research will be your compass.
Step 2. Choose a Template Type:
Decide on the type of Canva template you want to create.
Your choice should align with your niche and audience.
Step 3: Sign up for Canva & Start designing
To start creating these Canva templates, Sign up for a Canva account. It is free 🙂
Then use Canva to create visually appealing and functional templates.
The good thing about Canva templates is that you don’t have to start on a blank Canvas.
Canva’s has an endless scroll of templates you can take inspiration from to build something unique.
Pay attention to colors, fonts, and layout to create a cohesive and eye-catching design.
Once you’re done designing, you’ll need to do the following:
- Get the sharable template link from the design.
- Create a PDF that will contain the sharable template link.
- Add the sharable template link to your PDF.
Quick Tip
Remember to Keep the template Editable.
One of the selling points of Canva templates is their editability.
Ensure that your templates are customizable by your customers.
Leave placeholders for text, images, and elements that they can easily replace with their content.
Step 4: Creating Your Product Images
Since your customers won’t have the chance to see your actual product, it’s essential to craft eye-catching product images that make your listings irresistible.
As a general rule of thumb, I recommend producing a minimum of ten product images for each item in your catalog.
Increasing the number of visuals aids potential buyers in determining if your product aligns with their needs and preferences.

Where To Sell your Canva Templates
There are so many marketplaces you can sell your Canva templates but let me share the top 5 places where I sell mine.
1. Creative Fabrica
Creative Fabrica is a popular marketplace with over 7 million visitors each month.
It is known for being wallet-friendly & People come here for top-notch templates that don’t cost a fortune.
I’ve made $268.95 selling Canva Templates on Creative Fabrica
2. Teachers Pay Teachers
If you’re a teacher or love creating resources for educators, Teachers Pay Teachers is for you.
It’s crazy but this marketplace gets over 23 Million Visitors Monthly.
I’ve made $42.96 so far selling Canva templates on Teachers Pay Teachers.
3. Gumroad
I'm pretty new to Gumroad, but let me tell you, I'm loving it!
Now, Gumroad isn’t exactly like those big marketplaces I mentioned earlier, but it’s been a gem for my Canva templates.
I use social media to get buyers to my store.
Right now, I’m only promoting my Gumroad store on Pinterest, and it’s been fantastic.
And so far, I’ve made $287.55 in just 30 days of selling on Gumroad.
4. Fiverr
Fiverr is a pretty unique platform to even be on this list.
Many people have the wrong idea about what Fiverr can do, but I think it’s a great way to make money.
Sure, it’s known for freelancing, but I took a creative twist and used it to sell my templates.
With this strategy, I’ve made a total of $382.16 on Fiverr.
5. Creative Market
Creative Market is a popular marketplace for those in the creative field, but let me tell you, it’s not the easiest platform for beginners.
The approval process is thorough, and they have very high standards.
Even when I managed to get my shop approved, the competition was another challenge I had waiting for me.
6. Etsy
In practice, Etsy is usually the go to platform to sell Canva templates, for several reasons:
- Etsy has over 90 million active buyers.
- It has a lower barrier to entry and requires no approval.
I don’t use Etsy for selling because my country isn’t supported by Etsy Payments.
Nonetheless, Etsy is still a splendid option for selling Canva Templates.
Conclusion
That’s it! Follow these steps, and you’ll be on your way to selling Canva templates for Passive income and turning your creative skills into a rewarding side hustle or even a full-time gig.
