Without Feeling Burnt Out
We’ve all probably heard the saying that “the average millionaire has 7 streams of income”,
but does this really mean building seven different businesses to make money from?
I don’t think so.
I’ve burned out many times running my business because I try to do too many things at once,
when in reality, I should be building an ecosystem that makes me money.
There’s a reason why it’s called “streamsof income”, because each stream should ideally flow from the other.
So unless you want it that way, you shouldn’t be juggling different income pools.
Because believe me, there are a thousand and one ways to make money online.
From
- Dropshipping
- Affiliate Marketing
- Content Creation
- Trading
- Freelancing
- Digital Products
And while it sounds smart to want to do it all, it’s going to drain a lot of your energy.
This is why the smarter approach to passive income is building an ecosystem from just one idea.
So, my goal with this today is to reshape your mindset to view passive income this way.
The Ecosystem Formula
First off, everyone can create digital products. If you have knowledge, skills, or experience to share, you have a digital product you can sell.
I’ve shared many examples of what that might look like for you.
- Were you able to pass your bar finals? That’s golden knowledge.
- Do you do a good job with your color matching your clothes and style? That’s a skill.
- Do you randomly come up with crazy and tasty recipes? That’s a skill too.
- Did you go through heartbreak but are now happily married? That’s real experience.
So you see, everyone has something unique they bring to the table. You just have to look within to see what that is for you.
But What Exactly Is An Ecosystem?
To me, it’s basically a system that feeds itself.
- The grass is food for the deer,
- the deer is food for the lion,
- and the lion becomes manure for the grass.
Everyone feeds off the other in some way, shape, or form. It should be the same in your business.
We shouldn’t run each income stream as though it’s an isolated island.
Instead, make it flow seamlessly, feeding the rest of your system.
Here’s What I Mean
Income Stream Number 1: Sell an eBook
First, create a simple eBook and price it affordably, perhaps around $7.
For example, a guide on how to make passive income as a busy mom.
It should be not just an overview but a high-quality introduction to the topic.
For starters, you're going to promote this eBook on whichever platform you choose.
- YouTube
- Medium
- Ads
- Or even on marketplaces and so on.
Income Stream Number 2: Sell a course
Once you’ve created your basic guide and overview, the next step is to create a full-blown course on the same topic.
This course should include
- easy-to-follow modules,
- along with scripts,
- tools, secret tricks,
- templates,
- and more to make reaching their goal much easier.
Once your course is ready, sell it to the same people who bought your ebook using email marketing.
On average, you could sell your course for anywhere from $20 to $100 each, depending on the value it offers.
Income Stream 3: Build a membership
To keep things simple, your membership will most likely consist of a community made up of a select group of your course students.
Now, this digital product practically sells itself as people love building and learning when there’s a community aspect to your training program.
Nonetheless, your membership could also simply be a library of different resources to help them reach their goals a lot faster.
Overall, the best part of memberships is that you make recurring income from existing members as long as they stay subscribed.
Income stream 4: Build a Mentorship Program
For a special group of your membership members, you could offer a coaching program, teaching the exact same material, but on a 1:1 basis this time.
Now, Since your time is directly involved and this is an active income source,
you can charge much more than you would for courses and memberships.
I’m talking four figures per client from just that one topic.
Income Stream 5: Host Workshops and Masterminds
With an email list of buyers for a specific topic, you’ll be able to sell related training programs that make reaching their goals much easier.
These workshops don’t necessarily have to relate to your main topic—they can address other important needs that your course might not cover but still solve a problem for your buyers.
In this case, it could be as simple as running a workshop on how to build a website for a passive income business as a busy mom.
What makes this so attractive is that you’re tailoring a generic solution to a specific audience, and that’s why workshops sell like hotcakes.
How To Make This Ecosystem Work For You
It’s easy to think that your buyers will get exhausted from purchasing one resource after another from you, but honestly, that isn’t the case
—especially when what your ecosystem offers is a solution to a painful problem your buyers have.
So yes, this entire ecosystem might not work well for hobby niches like fashion.
Those will most likely stop at the second or third income stream, which is still awesome.
But to make this ecosystem work up to the fifth stream, you need to be selling products on a topic that’s directly causing problems for your buyers.
So, if you’re in the relationship, health, or wealth niche, this is a green flag to get to work on solving that one specific problem.
Quick Summary
Here’s a quick rundown of what we just learned today.
Let’s say you’re good with relationships and yours is pretty blissful.
- Create an eBook showing how you keep your relationship healthy
- Create a course going much more indepth
- Then launch a community for everyone to share their thoughts and real experiences
- Go on to launch a 1:1 coaching program for special clients willing to pay
- Finally, run frequent workshops to teach basic things that aren’t in your course, such as body language or emotional intelligence in relationships.
Conclusion
At this point, I hope you understand the entire concept of ecosystems. They are undeniably exciting, but they can also be overwhelming to set up.
If there’s just one piece of advice I could give, it would be to build them one at a time. Focus on creating one stream after another.
Additionally, you’ll need to master the art of creating high-quality digital products and driving traffic to them.
This is important because low quality products will kill your chances of taking your buyers through each level of your ecosystem.
Traffic, on the other hand, is the fuel that keeps this ecosystem running.
On that note, this is exactly how you build 7 streams of income with just digital products.
N.B. I’ve made over $6,500 selling digital products, and I launched a 5-in-1 starter kit for anyone looking to get started.
If you have specific knowledge, skills, or experience to share, then this starter kit is the perfect roadmap to help bring your idea to reality.
