The Best and Worst Marketplaces to sell your Canva templates

Selling Canva templates can be very profitable and yet so unpredictable.
Some marketplaces are simply the best, while others are not so impressive.

Over the years, I’ve sold Canva templates in so many marketplaces, and I can tell you which ones are the best based on my experience.

Now, we all know Canva templates are one of the best ways to make passive income.

And that marketplaces are probably the 7th wonder of the world.

Who could have imagined making money by selling to potential buyers without actively seeking them out?

These awesome founders have gathered all your potential buyers in one spot.

All you need to do is make sure you show up when these buyers start looking. Easy, right?

Now, let’s take a look at each of these marketplaces and rank them based on how profitable they can be.

Best Marketplaces To Sell Canva Templates

Tier 1: Etsy

Top of the list as expected is Etsy.

Etsy is a blessing to Canva creators – and in fact the best marketplace to sell your Canva templates!

With over 454.2 Million visits per month, there’s no reason you can’t start your shop and make your first sale even as a beginner.

Now with everything good comes a bad side.

For Etsy, it’s the competition.

With thousands of sellers on Etsy, Etsy is a super competitive marketplace to be on.

So to be profitable on Etsy, look for unique niches that aren’t obvious to everyone.

These are called Underground Niches.

It’s a niche with a good enough demand, yet not so much competition.

Other than that, Etsy is a marketplace you want to be on to make sustainable passive income from your Canva templates.

In fact, one of my readers started his shop on Etsy and made his first 4 sales within a month of selling on the platform.

Tier 2: Creative Fabrica

Not so many people talk about Creative Fabrica but it’s another marketplace that can make you a lot of money.

Creative Fabrica gets over 10.7 million visitors every month and that’s fair enough traffic to make passive income selling Canva Templates.

Now selling on Creative Fabrica is quite different from selling on Etsy.

This is because Creative Fabrica is really not a marketplace for Canva templates.

It’s more of a Marketplace for creative elements like fonts, cliparts etc

Just call it a marketplace for creatives by creatives.

Either way, it’s still a fantastic place to sell Canva templates.

Selling on Creative Fabrica is free but you’d need to apply initially to get your shop opened.

But believe me, it’s worth the wait.

I have a shop on Creative Fabrica where I sell Canva templates & AI graphics, and so far I’ve made $1447.21 with 367 followers and 2254 favorites.

Tier 3: Fiverr

Fiverr stands out from the other Marketplaces on this list, but is just as profitable as the others.

It is a freelance marketplace for services.

So you can’t really get away with just selling different Canva templates on Fiverr as listings.

But what you can do is

  • bundle your templates to cater to a certain niche
  • Or offer your services as a graphics designer

Now the first option is a lot easier.

If you have a bunch of templates for real estate agents, you can create a listing on Fiverr along the lines of :

I will create your real estate agent branding kit.

I did something similar to sell an onboarding template bundle for $10 per client and made $420 on Fiverr.

It was semi passive but all I had to do was deliver the Zip file whenever I got a new order.

The second option is more elaborate but definitely more profitable.

With Canva, you can design almost anything! Just practice a bit, and you’ll be taking orders for your awesome designs in no time.

You could be designing

  • Social Media Graphics
  • Business Cards
  • Presentations
  • Flyers
  • Posters
  • Logos etc

Tier 4: Teachers Pay Teachers

I really like this marketplace and even though I only used it for a short time, I still made a decent amount, in my opinion.

It’s basically a marketplace for teachers by teachers.

And No, you don’t need to be a teacher to sell on Teachers Pay Teachers.

You just have to create your free shop to potentially get access to over 26.2 million visitors every month

The products that sell well on this marketplace include:

  • Educational Flashcards
  • Weekly Lesson Planner
  • Classroom Poster
  • Editable Gradebook Template
  • Reward Chart for Positive Behavior

Like I said, I tried selling on Teachers Pay Teachers to see if it would make money, and it did!

I made $42.96 within a very short period of selling on Teachers Pay Teachers.

Tier 5: Zazzle

If you know Zazzle, you might be surprised to see it on this list, but hear me out.

Sure, Zazzle is a print on demand website where sellers upload images that could go on tshirts, mugs and other products.

Zazzle then handles the shipping and customer service while the designer gets a commission for each sale.

But that’s just one part of Zazzle.

What you guys don’t know is that Zazzle has a digital product marketplace.

Just recently, they launched a feature that now allows buyers to get printable downloads instead of physical products.

It’s a win win for all, since it’s cheaper for the buyer and comes with less stress for Zazzle.

And just in case you’re curious, Zazzle gets over 14.1 million visitors per month

And I recently found a seller making over $7047 on Zazzle

Some printables that sell well on Zazzle include:

  • Inspirational Quote Posters
  • Personalized greeting cards
  • DIY Party Invitations
  • Educational Flashcards for Kids

Worst Marketplaces To Sell Templates on

1. Creative Market

I don’t mean to be rude, but if you believe that being accepted to sell on Creative Market is the beginning of your journey to thousands with Canva templates, I’m sorry to break it to you.

That’s not happening.

I remember applying almost 5 times to be accepted as a creator on Creative Market.

For an application as selective as that, I really thought getting in was like winning the lottery.

At least that’s what they wanted me to believe.

But after uploading 20 of my best selling products on other marketplaces to Creative Market, I started to see it was a hopeless case.

And frankly speaking, You’re better off selling on Etsy trying to beat the competition.

2. Hungry Jpeg

I don’t have anything against this Marketplace but it’s really not worth your time.

First, they’re more about Creative elements than templates.

Plus, they get less than a million visitors each month, which isn’t as cool as other marketplaces on this list.

So yes, if you’re looking to diversify your template marketplace portfolio to make more money from your templates, try hungry Jpeg.

But if you want the best return on Investment for your time, stick with the Top 5 marketplace I listed in this story.

Other Marketplaces you should consider for your Canva templates

  • Canva’s Creator Program
  • Design Cuts
  • Design Bundles
  • Pinterest
  • Dribbble and Behance

Conclusion

Building a profitable Canva template business has a lot to do with strategy

  • Picking the right marketplace
  • Choosing the right Template ideas
  • And optimizing your products for the algorithm

But when you crack the code, it can be a very profitable business to start.

By the way, Canva templates are just one of the 4 passive income businesses I’ve built using Canva.

I’ve documented my entire journey in my eBook: The Canva Hustle.
