In celebration of International Yoga Day last June 21, 2021, John Clements President & CEO Carol Dominguez, who also happens to be a yoga enthusiast and instructor, was invited to share her journey towards yoga on CNN Philippines’ morning program, New Day.

Unlike most yogis, Carol’s discovery of the yoga practice wasn’t a result of a search for a fitness routine; in fact, it was a result of a difficult situation she was in 25 years ago. …

Men have always stood at the top — from colossal empires to vast religions. It has been embedded in their DNA to lead, to instigate, to rule. Women, on the other hand, have always been regarded as caretakers and prized possessions. They’ve been put on earth to sow, cook, clean, bear children — to be a wife.

Even at present times, men sit at the helm of huge corporations — but there are a few women who have tried to challenge these unwritten rules, who have tried to rise above and beyond.

I was lucky to attend Sprout’s event on…

It’s been three weeks since the start of our enhanced community quarantine for COVID-19 — how are you spending your time at home? The situation changes each day and there’s nothing else to do but to cross the bridge when we get to it.

It’s definitely challenging for us to stay home, work from home, and study at home. Luckily, technologies are available to help us complete our various tasks. These days, virtual communication has become even more useful that we heavily depend on it. Of course, there are downsides to it and face-to-face communication is still better. However, alternative…

As a testament to John Clements Consultants Inc.’s (JCCI) quick response to the volatile and challenging times presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, President and CEO Carol Dominguez initiated a series of steps to stay proactive, compassionate, and relevant to her organization and clients.

“During these times of crisis, it is very important to learn how to manage stress. Remember that this is a marathon and not a sprint,” said Dominguez, during one of the company’s Webex town hall meetings.

JCCI is at the forefront of corporate adaptation during these trying times. At the onset of the pandemic, the company immediately…

On March 27, 2020, we conducted two webinars on Leading Through the COVID-19 Crisis. At the beginning of each webinar, we asked participants how this crisis is different from other crises they’ve encountered and in what ways this crisis is putting unique demands on their leadership.

The short of their responses? This is a monstrous challenge, and the characteristics of the crisis that make it different are:

  • Fast-changing
  • Indefinite period
  • Highly ambiguous
  • Hitting everyone — all regions, all customers, all suppliers — all at once

What we heard from webinar participants is that the fundamental leadership challenges are these:

  • High…

The Brave and the Few

Last March 10, 2020, representatives from John Clements Consultants were among the brave and the few who attended the first of three Disaster x Business Continuity meetings hosted by the American Chamber (AmCham) of Commerce of the Philippines. The intimate gathering was held at the AmCham Hall in Corinthian Plaza Makati.

“Threats and Disruptions Posed by Disasters to Industries in the Philippines” featured distinguished speakers, namely Evariste “Eries” Cagatan, Director of the Manufacturing Industry Service of DTI’s Board of Investments (BOI); Dr. Carrianne Ewe, Chief Medical Advisor of International SOS; Rey del Moro Jr., Manager of the Terminal Services Division…

In February of last year, John Clements’ (JC) RLab (Recruitment Lab) hosted the very first Recruitathon, a week-long intensive basic recruitment course for fresh graduates and career shifters. Given this program’s success, we had our second run last March 2 to 6, 2020. This year, we had 15 participants — five fresh graduates and 10 career shifters from various industries like culinary, banking, comp&ben, HR admin, BPO, and operations — who were all passionate to learn about recruitment and committed to complete the five-day program.

During the morning session of the first day, participants were given an overview of the…

Just like fashion styles and trends, consumer behavior changes with time. The rise of online stores and e-commerce websites attracts people to shop digitally, driving customer traffic from physical stores to the online market. But what does it take to keep the retail business afloat in an age where clicking Add to Cart and Checkout on your phone gives the same satisfaction as swiping your card at the clothing store?

Last March 5, 2020, John Clements Consultants Inc. invited Ms. Edilyn “Eds” Yu, deputy country manager of Inditex Philippines — the Spanish retail giant behind some of the trendiest clothing…

We at John Clements were privileged to listen to a very interesting and engaging presentation on one of most women’s favorite topics — the Retail Industry, aka shopping. But believe it or not, some of the retail tidbits and statistics shared with us by Edilyn Yu, Assistant Country Manager at Inditex Philippines, the company that brought us Zara, Massimo Dutti, Bershka, Stradivarius, and Pull & Bear, may surprise you:

  • More men shop online than women on a weekly basis
  • 30 to 39-year-olds are those who shop most online
  • Most online purchases are done via PC

02.02.2020 — people say that dates like these are special and rarely occur in the calendar. Well, I totally agree because on this date, I had one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

The eruption of Taal Volcano last January 12, 2020 has affected and displaced countless families in Batangas and, as an immediate response, a lot of individuals and organizations came to their aid. For one, our company, John Clements Consultants (JC), adopted an evacuation center and built a soup kitchen for 2,000 evacuees. And so, on January 25, 2020, together with 50 of my colleagues, our…
