Situation

You face something big. It’s unfamiliar to you. Maybe its a new level of responsibility at work, a move to a new city or country or simply a significant life change that affects how you live. There are a million things to do. So much so that its easy to seize up. But, you can do this. You just have clear a path and figure it out.

Pattern

1. Be honest.
Take a good hard look at yourself. Don’t shy way from the challenging stuff. That’s likely where you need to be the most honest with yourself.

2. Be humble and get help.
Leverage others who have the super power you need. Be humble and ask for help. Learn from them as you go. Grow.

3. Do your best.
It’s going to take time. Learning new skills takes patience, effort and tenacity. Take one step at a time and just do your best.

4. Build muscle.
Keep at it. Build muscle. It will become easier. As Franklin D. Roosevelt once said, “a smooth sea never made a skilled sailor.”

Why

When you find yourself in a situation that is unfamiliar with a million things to do, slow it down. You can work through it. You simply have to take action and adapt. You can figure it out.
