Your Best You
A Situational Pattern.
Situation
Refining who you are and who you want to be can take a lifetime. Its hard work. But you’re already growing and changing so why not be intentional? Think of any challenge you face as a simple exercise. An exercise to learn and grow so that you can let go of beliefs or feelings which no longer serve you. Doing so will chip away at the unnecessary and help to reveal even more of your best you which resides inside.
Pattern
1. Reflect on who you’ve been.
Take stock of all the things that led you to this current moment. In each of our lives there has been struggle and achievement. Consider how the person you are today reading this has been crafted over time. What have you already let go of to get to where you are?
2. Define who you want to be.
Looking ahead, who do you want to be? What might the best version of you look like? Have there been others who have inspired you? If so, what qualities did they demonstrate that resonated with you?
3. Articulate the characteristics that matter.
When you think of your best you, what characteristics come to mind? How close are you to that best version today? What behaviors might you leave behind to achieve the next you? What behaviors might you adopt? Be specific.
4. Take one clear next step.
Identify one clear next step that heads towards the best version of you. Take action and give it a try. What went well? What didn’t? What did you learn and how might you take that learning onto your next clear step?
5. Keep going. And going. And going.
Becoming the best version of you is going to take time. Be patient and take things one step at a time. Break down your journey into smaller individual steps. But continue to push yourself so that you reveal more and more of your best you every day.
